Pacific Beach Business Improvement District (PBBID)
Who is Discover Pacific Beach?
Discover Pacific Beach, the business improvement association, is comprised of 1,200 businesses. Our geographic area includes Grand and Garnet Avenue between Mission Boulevard and Interstate 5, as well as, streets such as Cass, Turquoise, Lamont and Mission Bay Drive.
The City of San Diego's business improvement district (BID) program, the largest in the State of California and one of the most active in the nation, is administered by the Office of Small Business. San Diego currently has 19 separate BIDs.
What is a business improvement district?
Pacific Beach is a vibrant beach community where business owners, property owners and residents want to revitalize and promote their neighborhood. In 1997 PB merchants gathered together to create a business improvement district. BIDs are a type of assessment district in which business owners choose to be assessed a fee by the City of San Diego to fund business-related activities and improvements that will benefit the businesses.
BID revenues may be used for a vast array of activities that range from installing street lighting, to coordinating outdoor festivals, to removing graffiti. By pooling their resources, business owners in BIDs collectively pay for activities that they could not afford on an individual basis. BIDs are one of the most valuable and effective finance tools available to the small business community.
Volunteers serve on a variety of standing committees
Projects of Discover Pacific Beach are discussed by one of five committees: Organization, Promotion, Design and Improvements, and Pacific BeachFest.
